Caserta (Royal Palace) - Pizza - Naples (Highlights)

The tour will begin after you meet your private driver who will be easily recognizable due to the sign on which will be written your name and our agency logo at the port where your cruise ship will be docked. After a brief presentation your private driver will accompany you at the luxurious vehicle where and will offer you every comfort you need. Furthermore he will give you important information about the travel and the places that you are going to visit.

Caserta, once called “La Torre” (The Tower) due to the Torre of the Acquaviva of the Aragonesi, is one of the most important city of the Campania Region. Its growth starts in the 19th century. This ancient urban development is visible thanks to the historical center called “Caserta Vecchia” (Old Caserta). But the most important part of the city is the “ Royal Palace ”, an amazing building mastership of the artist Luigi Vanvitelli. The Reggia is located in Plaza Carlo III. The building was commissioned to Vanvitelli by Carlo di Borbone, it should have witnessed the power of the Borbone family in Italy and in the same time substite the Palace of Naples due to the political instability of that period. The palace has lived many stories, it was bombed in the 1943 during the World War II, it was the place were the surrender of German troupes in Italy was signed in 1945, and was even the set for a Star Wars movie. Majestic outside, inside are the royal apartments, a very fancy examples of interior design of the ‘800. Well known are the gardens outside called “Giardino Inglese” (English Garden) due to its constructor Andrew Garfner and the typically english layout. Built for the Queen Maria Carolina d’Austria, the gardens have so many different trees, flowers, plants, statues, lakes and the famous “Casino all’Inglese” by Vanvitelli.

All the history is amazing, but after a long stroll in the Reggia is now time for the lunch. Why do not try the famous Neapolitan Pizza? Enjoy the original Pizza in the place it was originally created. Taste a traditional but still delicious margherita or Marinara pizza, or enjoy a more creative one with local toppings.

We will then go to the Naples.Today Naples is culturally and politically speaking one of the most important city of all Italy. Many of the main characteristics that come up to mind when people abroad think of the Italians were born here. The idea of extrovert, singer, dancer of tarantella, player of Mandolino, cunning, Italian who enjoys the sun and the sea are actually from here.

Walking along the “lungomare” you can admire the beauties of the city: the landscapes, the sea, the sun and the flourished villas among which the “Villa comunale” where you can find local aquarium. On Margellina street you will find the “Castello dell’ovo”, a legendary castle situated in the sea linked to the ground through a stone bridge. In this magical place it is said that the poet and magician Virgilius used to spell his casts.

But it is not the only castle, not very far from there there is the “Castel nuovo” or “Maschio Angioino”, a “must” here in Naples. You can visit the apartments inside, the towers and even the dungeons where, according to the legends, there was giant crocodile that used to devour the prisoners locked in the cage. And last but not least the “Castel Sant’Elmo”, on the top of the hill next to the “Certosa di San Martino”. A majestic building, from the roof you can sea the entire city of Naples.

Besides the castles there are hundreds of museums and other buildings that are historically important, such as the “Palazzo Reale” (Royal Palace), house of the Royal family and today a museum where the visitors can admire the fancy apartments, the ballet hall, the paintings and the gardens. Next to the Royal Palace, the National library, giant library that hosts unique and original books signed by the most important writers, philosophers and historians; and the Piazza Pebliscito a extremely wide Plaza, or “Teatro San Carlo” an ancient and beautiful theatre you can both visit it and book a ticket for a play.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave in order to reach your cruise ship on time. During the ride to the port, you can reminisce about your lovely day!

Simple Amazing...Bellissimo We just returned from our incredible trip in Italy and France. There were so many highlights to talk about but I wanted to say how incredibly pleased we were with Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours and most importantly with Giovanni, our driver. He has the most incredibly warm personality, speaks wonderful english (although I spoke italian with him) and has such in depth knowledge of the places we visited. He drove us to Pompeii first where we spent three hours, then off to Positano where he booked us in at a restaurant at the top of the cliff that had the most incredible view!! Our group spent a little too much time at the restaurant drinking wonderful wines and eating a most delicious meal, my favorite of the whole trip...once we were done we went to Beautiful Sorrento where we had a 90 minute opportunity to shop and eat gelato and simple do what we wanted. He was articulate and funny the entire time. His driving skills were amazing albeit we had a few moments going up the mountains where I didnt think we were going to make it (narrow winding roads) but he handeled them so well. We hope that if you use this company you may have the pleasure of having Giovanni as your driver/guide. It will be an incredible experience. I was on a shared tour by the way and met my fellow cruisers on Cruise Critic.com I recommend this site to get info on cruising and more importanly to meet others and share tours such as this one. We were 7 people and got along famously! Grazie Giovanni..ti auguro un bella vita!!!

We booked a private tour of the Amalfi Coast from our cruise ship - Naples Port. Our driver, Giovanni, was great -- informative, great personality, and experienced driver, punctual, and spoke English very well. He was very knowledgeable and provided recommedations when asked. He provided a schedule for each stop which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sites we wanted to take in this trip. Since this was not our first time to Naples, we requested to go to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The scenery was spectacular

We arrived at the port of Salerno on Serenade of the Seas and was picked up by Giovanni. What an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable, friendly and polite throughout the entire tour. He stopped for photos and gave us enough time to spent in Positano and Sorrento and even recommended a good restaurant in Sorrento. From our booking via internet until our drop off at the port again was just so professional! Can recommend them 110%!!

This was the best tour of our 12 day mediterranean cruise. Our driver was soooo knowledgable and got us to both Herculeum (better than Pompei) and Pompei before the crowds did. He then took us to this AMAZING lunch on Mt. Vesuvius (cantina) and we had the best authentic meal of the trip. We got to get a private winery tour and taste amazing wine. Next we hiked up Mt. Vesuvius... it was so much fun! I would recommend this to anyone my husband and I had a blast!

“A day with Lovely Amalfi Tours in Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano” On our Eastern Mediterranean cruise, we had a day in Naples and decided to take in part of the Amalfi Coast and see Pompeii again. With advice of the company and the skillful driving by Giovanni, we were able to do both and return to the ship on time, despite the traffic delays. Because of our smaller vehicle, we climbed to heights in Positano that buses couldn't reach and had our favourite lunch of the trip at Trattoria La Tagliata--magnificent views, delicious home-style Italian food and very friendly staff! We hired a guide to meet us in Pompeii (arranged by Lovely Amalfi Tours). Our excellent driver Giovanni was very considerate and friendly. We enjoyed our day with him in Naples area and would recommend the tour service to anyone.

“A wonderful day” On disembarking our cruise ship it was easy to find our driver/guide Giovanni. We had an excellent tour along the Amalfi Coast stopping at Sorrento, Positano and Herculaneum and various view points along the way. Giovanni was an brilliant guide, knowledgeable and entertaining. When we stopped for time on our own he explained the layout of the place and the places not to miss so that we were able to make full use of our time. An outstanding tour
