Tours form Port of Amalfi coast (Amalfi - Ravello) - Herculaneum

Departing from: Naples Port, Salerno Port

Amalfi coast (Amalfi - Ravello) - Herculaneum

The tour will begin after you meet your private driver who will be easily recognizable due to the sign on which will be written your name and our agency logo at the port where your cruise ship will be docked. After a brief presentation your private driver will accompany you at the luxurious vehicle where and will offer you every comfort you need. Furthermore he will give you important information about the travel and the places that you are going to visit.

Your driver will take you on a coastal drive to the famous Amalfi Coast. You will find yourselves driving down-hill directly to Ravello, famous for its nature and for the Villas like Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, whose gardens are full of different kind of flowers, plants and trees, especially lemon and orange trees for whom the coast is famous. The driver will wait for you for about one hour before leaving.Villa Rufolo sits on a ledge that has attracted thousands of visitors over the years, thanks, in large part, to the inspiration it provided Giovanni Boccaccio in his Decameron and as the location where Richard Wagner composed the second act of his opera “Parsifal” in 1880.Each summer since 1953 the “Ravello Festival” has honored Wagner with concerts held on the dramatic Villa Rufolo stage overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Departing from Ravello you will see other amazing places less known such as Atrani city. We will then reach Amalfi. This one is such an important city for the Campania region that it gives its name to the entire coast. Here you can find several touristic spots such as the cathedrals next to the sea, the shopping streets, the museums and the square “Piazza del Duomo”. But do not forget the food! Restaurants, gelato places, cafes and shops where you can find typical Amalfi styled dishes.

At this point it’s time for a nice lunch, trust our staff and you will enjoy a incredible meal made by local ingredients, such as seafood and handmade fresh pasta. Alternatively you can have a pizza or a panino, something quicker but equally delicious.

The eruption of the Vesuvius, that destroyed Pompeii, hit the city of Herculaneum too with a huge tsunami of dirt and lava. But unlike Pompeii, the city of Herculaneum preserved wooden buildings and any sort of goods. Therefore for archeological studies is a very important site. Sculptures, paints, vases and so on are now in the “Archeological Museum of Naples” and in the “Antiquarium”.Ancient tradition connected Herculaneum with the name of the Greek hero Heracles, an indication that the city was of Greek origin. There is, however, historical evidence that toward the end of the 6th century BC a primitive nucleus of Oscan-speaking inhabitants came under Greek hegemony there and that in the 4th century BC Herculaneum came under the domination of the Samnites. The city became a Roman municipium in 89 BC, when, having participated in the Social War (“war of the allies” against Rome), it was defeated by Titus Didius, a legate of Lucius Cornelius Sulla.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave in order to reach your cruise ship on time. During the ride to the port, you can reminisce about your incredible day mixed with ancient Roman history and the present day beauty of one of the most famous coastlines in the world!

Brenda, Lori and Pearl were picked up at Naples port by Gaetano on Sept. 10/16. We had a most memorable day on the Amalfi Coast thanks to our driver Gaetano. We went to Sorrento, Positano and Pompeii. We stopped along the way for pictures and enjoyed the views. Gaetano had arranged for lunch with a wonderful view of Positano below. He played Andrea Bocelli on the way back to port. It was a great day and would definitely book The Lovely Amalfi Coast Tour again.

Our party of 4 were with Giovanni for the Amalfi Coast tour this August. He was promptly at our hotel at 8AM, smiling and enthusiastic to show us this part of "his" Italy. As we departed he gave us some history and quizzed us about our knowledge of his country. He sang to us with his beautiful voice. Every stop he was attentive to what we wanted to see or experience. He liked to discuss politics to history with us. He was interested to know what our personal history was for each person. His van was clean and neat. He even had wet wipes. He seemed to know all the locals and other tour drivers when we stopped. This is the only way to experience the Amalfi coast

We took the Amalfi coastal tour on 17th June 2016.Gaetano picked us up from our B&B in Naples & welcomed us into a aircondtioned minivan. We had an absolutely fantastic day thanks to Gaetano, visiting Positano, Amalfi where we had a lovely lunch then lastly Ravello. All along the way he would stop to allow us amazing photo opportunities of breathtaking views & while im usually not a good passenger I felt very relaxed & safe with Gaetano driving along those narrow coastal roads! We both felt very relaxed the whole day & Gaetano was very friendly & great to talk to. We thought the Amalfi coast was the most beautiful coastline we have ever seen & will be coming back in the near future. When we do we will be using Lovely Amalfi tours again! A big Grazia to Gaetano for making our day one to remember!

We had an amazing day with Enrique to Pompeii, Mt Vesvius, and Naples. He was early to pick us up, polite, personable and we loved him. He drove slow so I wouldn't get carsick, stopped for mazarella cheese, found our guide for Pompeii. He tailored our trip to whatever we wanted to do. We ended up going to Naples for their famous Margerita pizza. The only negative is that I wish we were staying longer so we could spend another day with him!

The best way to experience the magical Amalfi Coast. Gio is such a sweet and knowledgeable guide and driver. My husband and I were truly spoiled by this private tour. We only wish we could have had more time to take it all in. Thank you for such a wonderful time. We'll be back!
