The tour will begin after you meet your private driver who will be easily recognizable due to the sign on which will be written your name and our agency logo at the port where your cruise ship will be docked. After a brief presentation your private driver will accompany you at the luxurious vehicle where and will offer you every comfort you need. Furthermore he will give you important information about the day tour and the places that you are going to visit. Finally, let's get started your dream Private Tour !

You will find yourselves driving to the incredible Sorrento Peninsula. He will stop few times along the way to take fantastic panoramic photos of you with the famous Sorrento, Gulf of Napoli and Amalfi Coast scenary in the background. During the tour,  some cultural and gastronomic general information about the area will be provided along the way (inside the vehicle) by your private driver.Arrived in the city of Sorrento, the private driver will leave you in the historical square called Piazza Tasso for your free time but first of all he will show you the fastest way to go to inner part of the city where you can visit the old churches, museums, the beautiful buildings and the landscapes. You can visit the factories of famous Limoncello; an alcoholic drink made by lemons, sugar and water, a typical Italian product.

Then, before you will be starving , your driver will take you to an incredible Lunch spot which is a local family owned restaurant with an incredible italian scenary surrounding the restaurant. Special appetizer with local Mozzarella cheese and famous Bruschetta, fried vegetable preperad by local italian recipe,  different Pasta taste , house wine, water ,dessert and limoncello to end this amazing authentic lunch in a lovely scenary surrended. The italian food is very well known in all over the world but you will have the opportunity to taste the most original cousine right there in Italy.

On the way to Pompeii, we will drive by Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano responsible for one of the most famous historical events in Italy. The old city of Pompeii is located at the base of the Vesuvius and was flourish during the Period of the Roman Empire. After the eruptions of the Volcano in 79 B.C the city has been destroyed and covered by ashes and lapillus. The Archeological dig started in 1748 and in three centuries only 3/5 part of the city has been discovered. Now the city has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO and 3.750.000 tourists each year come to visit it.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave in order to reach your cruise ship on time. During the ride to the port, you can reminisce about your lovely day mixed with ancient Roman history and one of the most famous coastlines in the world!

  • We recommend to add the extra service of the private guide for the ruins so you can immerse yourself in the history of the ruin and you won't risk getting lost, since Pompeii is very vast.
  • “Starting this year, access to Pompeii will be limited and all tickets will be nominative with ID. Therefore, we advise anyone planning to visit the ruins to purchase tickets online in advance (you'll see the link in our quote email), as they will be available one month before the tour date”
  • Gratuity can be paid to the driver at your discretion (it is not mandatory in italy)

General Informations

According with the driver on the day we can also arrange a different tour. This is something possible caused by the traffic, strikes, bad weather, etc.

All our drivers have been trained to give a tour along the route as you are driven to your destinations, however due to strict Italian laws regulating and protecting licensed tour guides our drivers cannot do this outside of the vehicle, in the towns, sites and museums.

In the very rare event that there is an internal assembly or strike in Pompeii, unfortunately they usually do not advise of this in advance.

Kid Friendly: YES (This tour is suitable for children as long as they are supervised by a parent).

Please , comunicate the age of kids up to 6 years old in order to provide a baby car seat.

We reserve the right to change the order in which we visit the sites.

Passengers with a Reduced Mobility (PRM) Friendly : YES (you must enjoy walking short distances and be able to get in and out of minivan and minibus).

Passaport Holders under 18 years are entitled to free admission to State owned archaeological sites (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Etc.) and museums, upon production of a valid photo identity document.

According to our driver on the day , we can also arrange a different tour. This is something possible caused by the traffic , strikes, extreme weather, landslide / mudslide, closed road, etc.

The client must know that we will provide this tour despite bad weather.

Customers must provide information regarding allergies and / or intolerances

Please be advised that some shops or sites may be closed during the off-season (mid-November through mid-March)

In August 2013 we did Tour Pompeii, Positano and Sorrento with Lovely Amalfi coast tours. Our driver Giovanni was very nice and he suggested a wonderful restaurant outside Positano for us to have lunch and that was the best meal we had on our 2 week trip. “Great trip with Giovanni” We had a great time in the Amalfi Coast thanks to our wonderful driver, Giovanni. Giovanni is unlike any stereotypical driver that one would encounter in most cities. He is young, fun, engaging university student who seems to know just about everyone in the Amalfi Coast! The entire private tour went very smoothly. We found Giovanni immediately upon arriving in the Sorrento port as he was waiting for us (along with other drivers). Despite that there were only two of us, we got a large van, which is better for sightseeing because you get to sit higher up and consequently have a better view of the coast. We were able to see all the towns and did not feel rushed at all. Another great thing about traveling with Lovely Amalfi Tours is that the prices are significantly more reasonable than its competitors, with no compromise in the quality of service. I hope it continues to stay that way! But most importantly, Giovanni made us feel like he was a friend showing us around his hometown. And of course, this is always the best way to explore a new place.

Pompeii and Herculaneum Private Tour This was our first time doing an independent outside of our cruise line. What a BLAST! Eight of us went off to Pompeii and Herculaneum with Giovanni (our driver).8 hour tour. This was the highlight of our 19 day Western Mediterranean Cruise. ( Age group) in our 60's. We like ruins and history and the private guide gave us a great descriptive picture of how life was like at the time of Mt Vesuvius' eruption. We all agreed that we enjoyed Herculaneum more because it was more emotional and intimate. We all immediately hit it off with Giovanni, and had lots of laughs. We would highly recommend this company, guide and definitely the driver! We would not hesitate about using their services again. Thanks Giovanni for making our tour so memorable. The Crazy Canadians! Simple Amazing...Bellissimo We just returned from our incredible trip in Italy and France. There were so many highlights to talk about but I wanted to say how incredibly pleased we were with Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours and most importantly with Giovanni, our driver. He has the most incredibly warm personality, speaks wonderful english (although I spoke italian with him) and has such in depth knowledge of the places we visited. He drove us to Pompeii first where we spent three hours, then off to Positano where he booked us in at a restaurant at the top of the cliff that had the most incredible view!! Our group spent a little too much time at the restaurant drinking wonderful wines and eating a most delicious meal, my favorite of the whole trip...once we were done we went to Beautiful Sorrento where we had a 90 minute opportunity to shop and eat gelato and simple do what we wanted. He was articulate and funny the entire time. His driving skills were amazing albeit we had a few moments going up the mountains where I didnt think we were going to make it (narrow winding roads) but he handeled them so well. We hope that if you use this company you may have the pleasure of having Giovanni as your driver/guide. It will be an incredible experience. I was on a shared tour by the way and met my fellow cruisers on Cruise Critic.com I recommend this site to get info on cruising and more importanly to meet others and share tours such as this one. We booked a private tour of the Amalfi Coast from our cruise ship - Naples Port. Our driver, Giovanni, was great -- informative, great personality, and experienced driver, punctual, and spoke English very well. He was very knowledgeable and provided recommedations when asked. He provided a schedule for each stop which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sites we wanted to take in this trip. Since this was not our first time to Naples, we requested to go to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The scenery was spectacular

We arrived at the port of Salerno on Serenade of the Seas and was picked up by Giovanni. What an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable, friendly and polite throughout the entire tour. He stopped for photos and gave us enough time to spent in Positano and Sorrento and even recommended a good restaurant in Sorrento. This was the best tour of our 12 day mediterranean cruise. Our driver was soooo knowledgable and got us to both Herculeum (better than Pompei) and Pompei before the crowds did. He then took us to this AMAZING lunch on Mt. Vesuvius (cantina) and we had the best authentic meal of the trip. We got to get a private winery tour and taste amazing wine. Next we hiked up Mt. Vesuvius... it was so much fun! I would recommend this to anyone my husband and I had a blast!
