Tour from your Hotel of Ville di Stabia - Oplonti - Herculaneum (All Day Guide Included)

Departing from: Naples Area

Ville di Stabia - Oplonti - Herculaneum (All Day Guide Included)

Your private driver will greet you at your accommodation (or Naples train station), after a brief presentation you will be accompanied to the luxurious vehicle where our staff will offer you every comfort you need. After that they will give you important information about the tour and the places that you are going to visit.

The eruption of the Vesuvius, that destroyed Pompeii, hit the city of Herculaneum too with a huge tsunami of dirt and lava. But unlike Pompeii, the city of Herculaneum preserved wooden buildings and any sort of goods. Therefore for archeological studies is a very important site. Sculptures, paints, vases and so on are now in the “Archeological Museum of Naples” and in the “Antiquarium”.Ancient tradition connected Herculaneum with the name of the Greek hero Heracles, an indication that the city was of Greek origin. There is, however, historical evidence that toward the end of the 6th century BC a primitive nucleus of Oscan-speaking inhabitants came under Greek hegemony there and that in the 4th century BC Herculaneum came under the domination of the Samnites. The city became a Roman municipium in 89 BC, when, having participated in the Social War (“war of the allies” against Rome), it was defeated by Titus Didius, a legate of Lucius Cornelius Sulla.

The eruption of the Vesuvius, that destroyed Pompeii, hit the city of Herculaneum too with a huge tsunami of dirt and lava. Sculptures, paints, vases and so on are now in the “Archeological Museum of Naples” and in the “Antiquarium”.

Our next two stops are small cities where there are archaeological sites as important as the previous one, even if they are less known.

The first one are the “Ville di Stabia”, located in Castellamare di Stabia, the town was once known as Stabia only. It was destroyed by the apocalyptic eruption of the Vesuvio of the 79, which hit Pompeii and herculaneum as well, and on the beach of Stabia the poet Plinio the old found the death due to his whish to look closer to the eruption. The town of Stabia was once known as a place where the “Patrizi” (The Rich romans) used to spend their holidays and where they had built numerous “Villas”. The archeological digging started on 1739, after the casual findings of several items. They are not as famous as the Pompeii or herculaneum ones but not for this reason they are less fascinating. The archaeologists have found not only the villas and other buildings, but even several paintings especially in the “Aquarium Stabium”. Enjoy the beauties of the Villas such as Villa Arianna, Villa San marco or the “Nuove Terme Stabiane”.

The second archeological site that you are going to visit is Oplonti in the city of Torre Annunziata near Naples. Even this city was hit by the famous eruptions. Inside you can find ancient buildings as Villa di Poppea,  named after the second wife of the Roman empereor Nerone, infamously known for being the emperor who spent his time singing while his empire was burning due to a huge fire. The villa is so called because of some items such a vase and some documents that allegedly belonged to the empress.

Take your time and visit this amazing archeological sites to witness the strength of history.

I’m late in posting this but it’s a 5 star all around tour! Gio(vanni) our guide & driver was absolutely epic and despite unexpected poor weather in the Amalfi on the day of our tour, we had a spectacular, memorable, day tour that we’ll never forget. Don’t hesitate to book with this family owned and run company, it doesn’t get any better!

Spend 2 days exploring Naples , Pompeii , Amalfi Coast with Lovely Amalfi Coast tours . Giovanni accommodated our schedule , provided us a safe and comfortable journey . He explains the culture and excitement of being in Napoli. He also entertains you with his great voice like sounded like our favourite Italian singer Patrizio . Highly recommended for those who want to explore the ethos of Napoli.

Traveling internationally can feel overwhelming. With a special destination like Italy, you hope everything goes perfectly. Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours helped make our travels to Italy wonderful experiences. (We booked with them in 2019 and 2022 and hope to again soon!). Transfers are on time, professional, safe and reliable. Tours are fun and interesting and the destinations are beautiful. Professional, knowledgeable drivers like Marco and Carlo allow you to relax and enjoy while they take care of the rest! After a 9 hour flight, we appreciated a reliable, comfortable transfer from the airport to our hotel in Florence. Lovely Amalfi Coast happily accommodated our request to stop in Montepulciano for lunch and wine. Two days later we took private Tuscany Coutryside tour with Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours. Beautiful scenery with a friendly, knowledgeable driver with stops in Siena, San Gimignano and lunch and wine tasting. An experience that should not be missed! Thank you Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours team! We hope to visit again soon.

We had an amazing day with Stefano. It was our first time in Italy and we learned soo much from him. Ive always believe it is such a different experience when you have a private driver rather than being on a bus with 50 other people. We shopped and drank wine and had an amazing lunch at one of the Watch Towers along the Amalfi Coast. TRULY AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY!. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE!!!!

Would totally recommend Lovely Amalfi tours, and Vincenzo as your guide. Just a fantastic day, check it out @ziosime72 . Mille Grazie Vediamo fra pocco
