The very best of Rome & the Vatican Museums

The tour will begin after you meet your private driver who will be easily recognizable due to the sign on which will be written your name on at the Civitavecchia Port where your cruise ship will be docked. After a brief presentation your private driver will accompany you at the luxurious vehicle where and will offer you every comfort you need. Furthermore he will give you important information about the travel and the places that you are going to visit.

The tour will start visiting the “Colosseum”, probably the most symbolic Italian site, where gladiators fought against each others or against beasts during Roman Era. People from all around the world come to visit it. Outside it stand up witnessing the strength of an ancient empire, inside you will find the scars of hundreds of battles, most of them just for the amusement of the rich people.

Later on, you will be visiting the famous “Spanish steps”, this huge stairs that starts from Piazza di Spagna up to Piazza Trinità dei Monti, both of them amazing Roman squares, especially the first one where you will find the famous “Barcaccia Fountain” by the Bernini artists;

The incredible “Fontana di Trevi” one of the best known Italian artwork, here you can take a picture and admire this legendary fountain where directors, painters, poets, artists have found inspiration. Do not forget to toss a coin and make a wish;

Absolutely we cannot miss the “Pantheon”, once a temple to all the Roman gods now a christian church. A circular structure which is one of the most mysterious palace in Rome.

During your tour, your private driver will show you other attractions such as Castle St. Angelo and its bridge, the Italian Senate, The Marble Foot and Cat Street (Roman Curiosity), Trajan's Column, Imperial Fora, Trajan's Market, The Maps of the Empire, Arch of Constantine, Marcus Aurelius's Column, Parliament and Council of Ministers, St. Peter in Chains, temples of Apollo, Vesta and Janus, Quirinal Palace.

For lunch you can entrust our staff to advise you restaurants where you can eat a very Italian meal enjoying Roman atmosphere, or grab a quick bite of a not less fast lunch.

After lunch it will be time for another important place here in Rome is the “Vatican”, an independent state ruled by the Pope and the Christian Church. Here you can find not only the Apostolic Palace, residence of His Santity, but other important churches, Christian places, and the Vatican Museums. Amazing museums including the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica ,where you can admire the Michelangelo playworks such as the frescos and the very famous Sistine Chapel ceiling, and thousands of other Christians treasures.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave in order to reach your cruise ship on time. During the ride to the port, you can reminisce about your incredible day mixed with ancient Roman history and one of the most famous city in the world!

PLEASE NOTE: Security procedures at the Colosseum have recently changed. We have just been advised that the Colosseum has changed their security policy and has now implemented a metal detector which all guests must pass through. This will effect entrance to the Colosseum as even with skip the line entrance tickets, all guests entering must pass through the metal detector. The length of this line will be dependent upon tourist volume each day, however, we do want to advise that at this time, in low tourist season, with the implementation of the metal detector, the wait to enter is considerable and will affect the timing available to see other sites in Rome.

On the first sunday of the month, the visit to the Colosseum is free of charge (we can't purchase “Fast track entrance” tickets) , we advise you not to visit it on this day in order to avoid waste of time in the queue (approx 2 hrs queue).

On the last sunday of the month, the visit to the Vatican Museum is free of charge (we can't purchase “Fast track entrance” tickets) , we advise you not to visit it on this day in order to avoid waste of time in the queue (approx 2 hrs queue).

Simple Amazing...Bellissimo We just returned from our incredible trip in Italy and France. There were so many highlights to talk about but I wanted to say how incredibly pleased we were with Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours and most importantly with Giovanni, our driver. He has the most incredibly warm personality, speaks wonderful english (although I spoke italian with him) and has such in depth knowledge of the places we visited. He drove us to Pompeii first where we spent three hours, then off to Positano where he booked us in at a restaurant at the top of the cliff that had the most incredible view!! Our group spent a little too much time at the restaurant drinking wonderful wines and eating a most delicious meal, my favorite of the whole trip...once we were done we went to Beautiful Sorrento where we had a 90 minute opportunity to shop and eat gelato and simple do what we wanted. He was articulate and funny the entire time. His driving skills were amazing albeit we had a few moments going up the mountains where I didnt think we were going to make it (narrow winding roads) but he handeled them so well. We hope that if you use this company you may have the pleasure of having Giovanni as your driver/guide. It will be an incredible experience. I was on a shared tour by the way and met my fellow cruisers on Cruise Critic.com I recommend this site to get info on cruising and more importanly to meet others and share tours such as this one. We were 7 people and got along famously! Grazie Giovanni..ti auguro un bella vita!!!

We booked a private tour of the Amalfi Coast from our cruise ship - Naples Port. Our driver, Giovanni, was great -- informative, great personality, and experienced driver, punctual, and spoke English very well. He was very knowledgeable and provided recommedations when asked. He provided a schedule for each stop which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sites we wanted to take in this trip. Since this was not our first time to Naples, we requested to go to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The scenery was spectacular

We arrived at the port of Salerno on Serenade of the Seas and was picked up by Giovanni. What an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable, friendly and polite throughout the entire tour. He stopped for photos and gave us enough time to spent in Positano and Sorrento and even recommended a good restaurant in Sorrento. From our booking via internet until our drop off at the port again was just so professional! Can recommend them 110%!!

This was the best tour of our 12 day mediterranean cruise. Our driver was soooo knowledgable and got us to both Herculeum (better than Pompei) and Pompei before the crowds did. He then took us to this AMAZING lunch on Mt. Vesuvius (cantina) and we had the best authentic meal of the trip. We got to get a private winery tour and taste amazing wine. Next we hiked up Mt. Vesuvius... it was so much fun! I would recommend this to anyone my husband and I had a blast!

“A day with Lovely Amalfi Tours in Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano” On our Eastern Mediterranean cruise, we had a day in Naples and decided to take in part of the Amalfi Coast and see Pompeii again. With advice of the company and the skillful driving by Giovanni, we were able to do both and return to the ship on time, despite the traffic delays. Because of our smaller vehicle, we climbed to heights in Positano that buses couldn't reach and had our favourite lunch of the trip at Trattoria La Tagliata--magnificent views, delicious home-style Italian food and very friendly staff! We hired a guide to meet us in Pompeii (arranged by Lovely Amalfi Tours). Our excellent driver Giovanni was very considerate and friendly. We enjoyed our day with him in Naples area and would recommend the tour service to anyone.

“A wonderful day” On disembarking our cruise ship it was easy to find our driver/guide Giovanni. We had an excellent tour along the Amalfi Coast stopping at Sorrento, Positano and Herculaneum and various view points along the way. Giovanni was an brilliant guide, knowledgeable and entertaining. When we stopped for time on our own he explained the layout of the place and the places not to miss so that we were able to make full use of our time. An outstanding tour
